Mattel’s BMR1959 collection is focused around “self-expression and personal style”, and designed by Carlyle Nuera, lead designer for Barbie Signature.

The BMR1959 gang have been doing a little clothes switching. Pop stars and designers are driving a trend for non-binary outfits. The future is fluid as labels sign up for gender-free fashion.

The BMR1959* collection is made up of six dolls with different colors of hair, eyes and skin, along with different body types. Each doll is dressed in variations of bright hoodies, overalls, jackets and shorts, which have then been paired with bright shoes and accessories, like logo slides, caps, sunglasses and fanny packs. The dolls are packaged with a custom display stand inside shoebox-style presentation packaging with Carlyle’s fashion sketch and the signature logo printed on the lid. We thought it would be fun to do a little BMR1959 mashup…
