Francisco Leon has a Dorothy Lamour moment as he poses amongst the foliage. He’s the flocked-hair doll from the Fashion Royalty Homme launch collection.

The boys are muscling in – those girl dolls have been hogging these pages for way too long. Let’s see how the guys can work it.

We all have our favorite fashion girls, but we thought it was time for the boys to get a look in. Too often these handsome hunks just serve as arm-candy for our top models – so we’re giving them some space of their own for a change. They certainly rose to the challenge – none of these guys had worries about getting naked for the sake of their art.

So we proudly present a selection of men dolls of many sizes and various vintages. What a nice surprise to see how gorgeous they can look with (often) minimal props and wearing just the hint of a smile.

Why not get your guys ready for action, too? Let’s show the girls how to do it for the camera. Some of the most dramatic shots we show are the simplest – you just need a length of fabric, a mirror, or a plain paper backdrop.

We hope these pages inspire you to try out some pictures for yourself. There’s plenty of visual material out there; whether it’s a Dolce&Gabbana shoot featuring top model David Gandy, the glammed-up super-realism of the French photographers Pierre et Gilles, or just someone you saw on the bus – go on give it a whirl!

A mean and moody original Tyson, from the now defunct Totem International. He’s wearing a Tom of Finland leather jacket, but he really doesn’t have to try very hard. Just add a graffiti-wall backdrop for that sexy streetwise vibe.

Why should Marilyn have all the satin sheet fun? Integrity Toy’s Takeo Mizutani, has been made over by the talented artist Baris, with piercing repainted hazel eyes and a faux fur wig. He may have bed hair, but this guy doesn’t look like he’s ready for sleep just yet.

Billy, the first out and proud gay doll by Totem International, is all set to run away to sea for some maritime adventures.

Our merman, Akando, is a one-third scale ball-jointed doll (BJD) from Iplehouse’s Elder range. This towering giant is 70cm (about 28 inches) tall. Akando is from the collection of Baris, who kindly lent some of his dolls for this shoot.

It looks like Pierre de Vries has got himself a new room-mate – Carlos, by Totem International. It looks like the guys are getting ready for a costume ball on campus. They’ve bagged Fashion Royalty Snow Wigs from the Modern Pompadour Collection.

A new departure for D.A.E. Originals, their dolls never looked like this before, and leather was never so daring. “Black and White Leather Ball™” is from the exciting Metamorphosis™ line, a new, non-vintage range. The image is from the private collection of D.A.E. Originals, and are reproduced here by kind permission of Brian Schafer and David Escobedo.

An angelic Akando BJD gazes heavenward. The dark background highlights the luminous quality of the doll’s resin body. But we’re guessing that this hunk ain’t no saint!
