Mattel’s animal dolls are truly wild. I’m not sure what the designers were on when they came up with this concept. These little ladies blend 70s disco with ballroom eleganza, in a look described by Mike Buess (who trusted us with his dolls for a studio shoot) as “Ragtime Victoriana.”
Despite the unquestionable oddness of these four dolls, they are strangely appealing. We decided to take them on a photographic adventure, teaming them up with some modern anthropomorphic dolls, trying them out as fine art models, and simply putting them out in the street!
