Dolls on Stamps – Vintage and Modern, American and International

Doll and postage stamp collecting are two intriguing hobbies that enjoy worldwide popularity. In this video we look at how on occasion, these two worlds have collided, with fascinating results.

Both hobbies require careful research, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for collecting. Doll and stamp collectors must take care to preserve their collections to protect their value and historical significance. In addition, collectors need to acquire a deep understanding of the origins, makers, and variations of the objects they collect.

As with many hobbies, both doll and stamp collecting can be costly, considerable amounts of money may be spent to add rare or unique items to a collection. Collectors often have a deep appreciation for history, art, and design, while also being meticulous about research, documentation, and preservation. These hobbies can be an exciting and fulfilling way to engage with the world’s rich cultural heritage.

Thank you for this video! I collect all the things featured here – vintage toys, dolls and stamps. Years ago, I saw a posting on an old AOL bulletin board where a noted Barbie dealer scoffed at stamp collecting as if it was a freakish hobby, while years before that another dealer expressed to me that she thought that it was a difficult hobby… Am hoping that there are others in the doll world that collect stamps too, and not just dolls on stamps.

Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it. I always find it strange when collectors don’t get other collectors’ interests. Obviously I’m not including anything illegal or obnoxious here. Collecting is collecting, (some unkind people might say ‘hoarding’!) and we all have so much in common. Thanks for commenting, I really appreciate it.
