This little doll, made by Louis Marx in 1965, still has the power to charm. Sold as a complete boxed set – there’s nothing further to collect! Let’s have a rummage in her wardrobe. TOP OF THE BOXTwo Twinkie dolls model the outfits as shown on the lid of the original box. The doll came complete with an extensive wardrobe of rubbery plastic clothes. There is nothing to crease or wrinkle here. Although the same items were included with each doll, there are some variations in color for individual pieces. She even had her own poodle. A GARDEN OF DELIGHTSTwinkies wear two of the wigs from her collection. The set included a variety of styles and even had wig stands (as shown in the first photo, together with her self-assembly wardrobe). At top left is the original fold-out sheet showing all of the items included in the box. ART LOVERSLooking at sculpture can be so very tiring. Luckily the doll is jointed at the hips for a nice sit down. She is made of molded plastic with additional joints at the shoulder and neck. Twinkie is a diminutive 5 inches tall and has painted socks, shoes and face. CACTUS CORNERBrown and tan were widely used colors for Twinkie’s clothing, so the pop of bright blue for her afternoon dress makes a welcome change. The doll had plenty of accessories, although this jolly cactus was not one of them. At top right is the reverse of the fold-out sheet with assembly and dressing instructions. TIME FOR BEDA shortie nightie combo in bright yellow is perfect for a good night’s sleep. Twinkie wears one of the blonde wigs from her collection, and her vanity case is at the ready for a quick getaway in the morning. Daybed is vintage Mattel. Other props and accessories used throughout are from Blick Art and Daiso.
